Greiz is an NPC from Act II. He is the leader of the desert mercenaries available for hire in Lut Gholein. Greiz and his mercenaries likely helped to defend Lut Gholein from General Malevolyn's attack in the Legacy of Blood, shortly before the Wanderer's arrival. He and his men have been protecting the town from demons ever since the Wanderer passed through, because the city guards were summoned into the Palace to fight off demons coming up from the Palace Cellar.
