Hippocrates Smethwyck was a British wizard and Healer at St Mungo's Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries. He was the healer-in-charge of the 'Dangerous' Dai Llewellyn Ward.[1]

After the British Ministry of Magic employee Arthur Weasley was attacked when guarding the Department of Mysteries by Lord Voldemort's pet snake Nagini on 18 December 1995, he was immediately sent to St Mungo's Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries for his injuries to be treated.
At some point during Arthur's stay (in either late 1995 or early 1996), Smethwyck successfully found the antidote for the highly poisonous venom Nagini's fangs had infected him with. This antidote healed Arthur Weasley's wounds, fully curing him and allowing him to return home.[1]

Magical abilities and skills
Healing magic: As a professional Healer employed at St Mungo's Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries, Smethwyck was highly accomplished in the art of medical magic, meaning he would have been able to heal his patients with healing spells, healing potions and other magical remedies. His impressive knowledge of and skill with antidotes for various poisons allowed him to find the correct antidote for Arthur Weasley, saving his life from highly potent snake venom. Furthermore, in order to train as a Healer, he would have had N.E.W.T.s in Potions, Herbology, Charms, Transfiguration, and Defence Against the Dark Arts, with a top-grades of either 'Exceeds Expectations' or 'Outstanding'.[2]
