Herald Tantras was a close friend of Herald-Mage Vanyel Ashkevron. He was a frequent sparring partner and drinking companion, ensuring the solitary Vanyel was taken care of when he returned from the front lines of the Karsite war. He is dark-haired and dusky: "as graceful and as handsome as a king stag in his prime."[1]

Tran is later reincarnated as the Companion Tantris.

Tran had a strong Mindspeech Gift. After seeing what Vanyel went through, he was grateful he did not possess the Mage-Gift.
